A Google Analytics 4 alternative: what changes and what you gain
Google Analytics 4 is the default tool for millions of websites. It's free and very capable, but it's worth understanding what you accept in exchange — and what you gain if you look for a privacy-first alternative.
1. Where your data lives
GA4 processes data on Google's infrastructure, largely outside the European Union. Anonymetrics stores analytics data in the EU (Ireland). For many European teams, that difference is the starting point of any compliance decision.
2. Cookies and consent
GA4 relies on cookies and on Consent Mode, with the complexity and the data loss that come with it. Our measurement is cookieless by default: most sites need no banner for analytics, so you don't lose data to consent refusals.
3. Sampling
On large reports, GA4 may sample: it extrapolates from a portion of the data. We count every event, bots filtered out, so what you see is what happened.
4. Simplicity
GA4 goes deep, but its learning curve is real. Anonymetrics puts a clear read first: overview, behaviour (funnels, heatmaps, recordings) and operations (uptime, SEO) in one interface.
What about migrating?
You don't have to switch GA4 off on day one. You can install our pixel alongside it (one line of code), compare for a few weeks and decide with data in hand. And if you use Google Ads and need deep advertising attribution, GA4 can live alongside us: Anonymetrics doesn't try to replace your Ads stack, it helps you understand your product while respecting privacy.
